ManAlive Expedition Privacy Policy

ManAlive Expedition (“ManAlive,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit ministry committed to helping men live from a wholehearted relationship with God. Protecting the privacy and security of those who visit our website, register for events, or support the mission is part of that stewardship. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Scope

This policy governs all data gathered through manaliveexpedition.com, our sub-domains, online registration and donation forms, email newsletters, text-message programs, and any other digital properties we operate (collectively, the “Services”).

The Information We Collect

We collect three kinds of information.

1. Information you provide directly – such as your name, postal address, e-mail, phone number, date of birth, emergency contact, prayer requests, and payment details. Online payments are processed by Stripe, Square, or similar PCI-compliant vendors; ManAlive never stores full credit card or bank account numbers.

2. Information collected automatically – IP address, browser type, device identifiers, pages viewed, time-zone settings, and cookie or pixel data that help us understand how the site is used and how to improve it.

3. Information derived from other sources – for example, we may receive a social media handle or a demographic estimate from platforms such as Facebook, Google Analytics, or publicly available records- to better communicate with you.

ManAlive does not knowingly collect information from individuals under the age of 13. If we discover that we have done so, we will delete the data immediately.

Legal Grounds for Processing

Where data-protection laws such as the EU/UK GDPR apply, we process personal data on one or more of the following bases: (i) your consent; (ii) fulfillment of a contract (for example, camp registration); (iii) our legitimate interests, such as improving ministry effectiveness or preventing fraud; and (iv) compliance with a legal obligation, including U.S. tax requirements.

How We Use the Information

Program delivery. We use your data to register you for expeditions, cohorts, or volunteer teams and to send essential event communications.

Donation processing and receipting. Donor information is used to issue tax-deductible receipts and year-end giving statements.

Communication. We send devotionals, updates, event reminders, and fundraising appeals. Every non-transactional e-mail

includes an easy opt-out link.

Pastoral care. Prayer requests and similar submissions allow our team to respond personally.

Analytics, security, and improvement. Aggregated data help us troubleshoot, secure, and enhance the Services.

Legal or safety purposes. We may use or disclose information to comply with law, protect life or property, or prevent fraud.

Sharing and Disclosure

ManAlive never sells or rents your personal information. We share it only when necessary:

Service providers (payment processors, e-mail/SMS services, web-hosting and analytics companies) receive only the data required to perform their functions and are bound by confidentiality agreements.

Partner ministries receive your data only if you expressly opt in, for example when you register for a jointly sponsored event.

Legal or safety disclosures are made when required by law or to protect individuals, ManAlive, or our community.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use first-party cookies and third-party tools such as Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel to remember preferences, measure performance, and display relevant event advertising. Most browsers allow you to disable cookies, though some site features may not function properly without them. You may also visit industry opt-out pages such as aboutads.info or youronlinechoices.eu.

Data Retention

We keep personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described above. Donation and tax records are retained for seven years to satisfy IRS regulations. Event waivers and medical forms are retained for four years after an event, or until a minor participant turns eighteen plus an additional three years. E-mail marketing data is removed after two years of inactivity or immediately upon request. Web-analytics data is retained for twenty-six months, the Google Analytics default.

Your Rights and Choices

You may unsubscribe from e-mails at any time using the link provided. You may also request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by writing to us at [email protected].

If you live in a jurisdiction that grants additional rights - such as the right to data portability, to restrict processing, or to object - you may exercise those rights by contacting us at the same address. We will verify your identity before honoring certain requests.

Residents of California may request disclosure of the categories of personal information ManAlive collects and may ask us to delete it, subject to the exceptions in the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). We do not “sell” personal information as defined by the CCPA.

Data Security

All traffic on manaliveexpedition.com is encrypted with TLS (HTTPS). Payment data is handled exclusively by PCI-compliant processors who encrypt data at rest with AES-256. Access to personal information inside ManAlive is role-based and limited to trained staff or volunteers. We conduct periodic security reviews and vulnerability scans. No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure, but we use industry-standard safeguards to reduce risk.

International Transfers

ManAlive is headquartered in the United States. By using our Services, you understand that your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States, where data-protection laws may differ from those in your home country.

Changes to This Policy

We may amend this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make a material change, we will post the revised policy on this page and update the “Effective Date.” Continued use of the Services after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
